Challenge
The Performance Measurement and Audit Department at Blue Shield uses a variety
of tools to track, analyze and document key performance data. This data is used
to enhance the quality and efficiency of customer service, claims processing,
enrollment timeliness and patient care. The data had grown enormously over the
years and the Access Database and tools had become archaic. There was an
imperative need to migrate to a new database and build a state-of-art
application that is easy to use and that could support millions of member data.
Blue Shield invited proposals from a number of companies. Blue Shield chose
XYKA among several vendors, based on XYKA's efficient solution delivery
methodology and proven background.
Solution
The XYKA Team had detailed discussions with the Performance Measurement Group
to understand the current business processes. After a thorough analysis of
requirements, XYKA designed a centralized database with a user-friendly
web-based application on the front end. Through its innovative architecture and
design, XYKA helped the business group increase efficiency and achieve data
consistency. The screens were productivity-enhanced to minimize manual data
entry and user errors. XYKA added key features like bulk loading, quick reports
and auto email functionality to streamline the business process. The new
application was well received by the users and Blue Shield has seen significant
productivity gains since its launch.
